About Ms. Mendez
Born and raised in the Panhandle of Texas, Ms. Mendez has many years of medical experience, having worked as an RN in the ER, ICU, L & D and in Psychiatry. She moved to Dallas in 1993 to complete the Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Texas Southwestern Campus. She then relocated from the Panhandle to the Houston area in 1995.
Nine years ago, she established Optimal Health of Houston- a practice that focuses on Gynecology and Functional Medicine for women, addressing the core issues in illness rather than treating only the symptoms. She specializes in bio-identical hormone therapy and use of pharmaceutical grade supplements to balance body systems based on each woman’s individual bio-chemistry. Her first experience with hormone imbalances was personal. From those experiences, those of her patients and extensive training with many experts in Functional Medicine, she has learned to address the imbalances and improve quality of life for many women. In November of 2013, Ms. Mendez passed the rigorous certification exam in Functional Medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine and is one of a very small group of certified practitioners from all over the world..
Along with feeling better, many women want to address the changes that occur as we age. At her patients request, Ms. Mendez acquired additional training and began to perform aesthetics procedures in 2000. Proficient in the administration of Botox, dermal fillers and Sculptra , Ms. Mendez prides herself in minimizing the effects of aging while keeping a very natural look. She also offers pharmaceutical grade skin care and aesthetic laser procedures.
She is proud of her reputation in the Houston community and takes new appointments primarily by patient referrals.
The mission at Optimal Health of Houston is to provide evaluation of your health status with cutting edge testing modalities and provide you with the education to understand how to improve or maintain your health, therefore empowering you to be the best that you can be and have a healthy quality of life.
